We in CybU are responsible for the Guild's online information platforms and making sure that all fantastic events organized at the Guild are immortalized through photos and film. We are also responsible for the voting system during Guild Meetings, as well as for the Guild's digital archives. We manage and update the Guild's website and instagram, photograph at events, take all the photos of the volunteers, and record and edit films, for example during the introduction, and in collaboration with the pHøs and the Festivities Committee. We also ensure that everything digitally generated during the year is saved and archived for future Guild members.
With us in CybU there are plenty of opportunities to develop your creative talents and learn more about photography, photo and film editing, graphic design, how to manage and develop a website, and if you want to, programing. Most of our work is done in collaboration with other Committees. This means that as a member of CybU, you will work with and get to know many different areas of the Guild.
Head of the Cyber Committee
Head of the Cyber Committee
As Head of the Cyber Committee, I am the leader of the Committee which means I have the overall and economic responsibility of the committee. I make sure our work proceeds as planned, and handle the administration of the Committee. I lead the meetings of the Committee, make sure we follow our budget, and coordinate the Cyber Committee with the rest of the Committees of the Guild through the Committee Board. As Head of the Cyber Committee, I am also a part of the Information Collegiate at TLTH along with the Head of the Information Committee. It is also my responsibility in collaboration with the Committee and the Board to develop Guidelines for how the Guild’s social media and digital archiving should be handled. I therefore collaborate closely with the Board, but also with the Information Committee.
As leader of a Committee you are expected to put in time and effort into your volunteer position. In return, you will learn about leadership and to take responsibility for a group, planning, communication and teamwork. Even if you will not work as much with the specific tasks of the different work areas in the Committee, you will learn a lot about the areas that the members of the Committee work with, as well.
We Webmasters design, manage and update the website of the Guild. Except from keeping the website up to date with continuous updates, we work with several of the other Committees of the Guild to improve the website and its functions to suit the needs of the Committees and Guild members. For example, we work closely with both the pHøs and the Career Fair Committee to update the introduction website and the website for the Career Fair, KULA.
As a Webmaster, you get to learn a lot about managing a website, web design, user experience and distribution of information. You also get the chance to work with and learn how to use Wordpress, which is the most common tool to build websites with. You don’t need any prior knowledge at all in order to do a great job as a Webmaster. On the contrary, this is a unique opportunity to learn something which can be very useful for the future, at the same time as your work is of use for all other Guild members.
As Director I plan, record and edit movies at the Guild. Examples of movies recorded in the last years are annual presentation/theme movies for the pHøs and the Festivities Committee, the Career Fair, and aftermovies for the Introduction.
As Director, you get access to all the cool photo equipment of the Guild, as well as editing programs (Adobe Suite), and get the chance to learn more about filmmaking and editing. You also get the opportunity to collaborate with other committees. The workload of the Director can sometimes be intense, and your services can be requested during evenings or weekends, but in return, the movies you make are greatly appreciated by the Committees and all the members of the Guild!
We Photographers are there during all the fun events organized by the Guild to capture every amazing moment for the Guild members. We also take the pictures of the volunteers for the website and the “volunteer periodic system”, and edit pictures before they are posted on the website of instagram.
As a Photographer you get access to all the cool photo equipment at the Guild including editing programs (Adobe Suite), and get the chance to develop your skills in photography and editing. Besides, the photos you take are greatly appreciated by all the Guild members. You don’t need any prior knowledge, and you don’t need to be present during every event to make an excellent job as a photographer. Psst… As a photographer, you will often get tickets to events at a subsidized price.
We Cyber Ions assist the other members of the Committee in their work. Above all, we manage the Guild Instagram, and work with keeping the digital archives of the Guild up to date.
The position as Cyber Ion is very flexible - and it is mostly up to you how much time you want to put on your work and what you want to work with. If you want the work with photography you can help the Photographs, or if you rather work the website, the Webmasters are sure to need some help.
