We in the Sports Committee are responsible for all of the events at the Guild involving sports or movement. Together, we plan activities such as running nights, badminton games or dance practices. These events can be recurrent, or sporadic. Our committee consists of the Head of the Sports Committee, and six Sports Ions. Together, we organize fun sports events from our own ideas. That’s why planning and brainstorming are very important. Then, we also lead and instruct these activities.
With us in the sports committee, you get experience in planning and organizing events, leading a group, and developing your creativity. Our events take place throughout the year, and we in the Sports Committee decide which events to organize, which gives us the opportunity to be creative and try new things. It can take some time to plan an event, but it is great to share the experience and spread the joy of training to all of the members of the Guild.
Head of the Sports Committee
Head of the Sports Committee
Together with my ions, I arrange sports events for all of the members of the Guild. I’m the one responsible for our budget and our activity plan, making sure that our economy works out. As Head of the Sports Committee, I am also responsible for our reservations, and for making sure that our goals within the committee are achieved. So there’s quite a bit of administrative work when you’re Head of a Committee. I am also on the council, and I am the K-Guilds contact person with the Sports College at LTH, which means that I get to meet leaders of Sports Committees of other guilds.
As head of the Committee, I get to develop my ability to lead a group and to plan and organize events. It is fun to be creative, try new things and spread joy of training. I also learn a lot about guidelines for agreements and how to apply for sponsorships. The Sports Committee is a relatively small committee, which means that you get to know each other very well. As Head of the Committee, you also get a great insight in the Guild, in how it works and in the different committees when you are on the council.
As Sports Ion, I help to make a reality of the sport ideas that we within the committee come up with. The first step is to be creative and come with ideas of events that we then discuss in the committee. Then, I plan the event as an Ion with the others. Finally, we lead the event together in the committee.
The most important thing you learn as a Sports Ion is experience in planning and organization of larger groups. Also, you learn a lot about how to work and discuss in a smaller group. That is also the best part, to be able to have a great unity in the group. It is quite a small position, but it is very giving. For instance, it’s great to get to know and hang out with more members of the Guild during the events.
