What do we do in the Treasure Committee?

The Treasure Committee assists the Treasurer in the daily management of the Guild's finances. The Treasure Committee consists of a Vice Treasurer who leads the committee and three assistants. The Treasurer on the Board is ultimately responsible for the Guild's finances and accounting, but it quickly becomes a lot to manage with nineteen Committees, various project groups, and status reports. Therefore, our task in the Treasure Committee is to record receipts, assist the Committees with budget follow-ups, and explain to Guild members how the Guild's finances work. 

In the Treasure Committee, you will gain insight into how accounting works in an organization, what various financial terms mean, and how they are used in practice. You will also get a good overview of how the Guild spends all its money. In addition to all this, the Treasure Committee is the newest and smallest Committee, which offers creative volunteers many opportunities to develop it for the future! There are no prior experience requirements to join the committee, but an interest in finance and an eye for detail will go a long way!

Vice Treasurer

As Vice Treasurer, you are the Treasurer's right-hand person, and you and the Treasurer will have much to discuss together. Besides the Guild’s authorized signatories, you are the only one who will have access to the Guild’s bank account, which is a major and important responsibility! In addition to the Committee work, you will also represent the Treasurer and the Treasure Committee in the Committee Council, where other Committee Leaders can ask questions or share opinions. How your work will look during your year is up to you and the Treasurer, and no year will be exactly the same as the last.  

As Vice Treasurer, you get a behind-the-scenes look at how the Guild operates when pen meets paper at the bank. At the same time, you gain experience in organizing a small committee and how to collaborate with other committee leaders. This, together with the financial knowledge you learn alongside your assistants, will provide you with valuable experiences for the future!

Coin Ion

If the Treasurer and the Vice Treasurer are the Guild's financial brain and heart, then the Coin Ions are the Guild's blood vessels, without which nothing ends up where it should. Strange metaphors aside, it’s the Coin Ions who do most of the heavy lifting at the Treasure Committee's weekly accounting meetings, handling the bookkeeping of receipts. Accounting can sometimes feel boring and repetitive, which is why we do it together as a group, which makes it go by much faster.

As a Coin Ion, you will learn how the Guild handles bookkeeping and gain a solid understanding of what is required on a receipt and other financial terms. Being a Coin Ion provides valuable skills for the future, both for further engagement within the Guild and after your studies.
