What do we do in The Nomination Committee?

We in The Nomination Committee help the Guild elect all of its volunteers. We mainly work during the autumn when we send out questionnaires and interview candidates for the Guild’s volunteer positions. Later, before the Fall Guild meeting 2, we nominate the candidates we think are the best for the Guild. However, our nominations are not final, while it is also possible to candidate against our nominations. During spring we are updating the Committee descriptions on the website so that you will find the volunteer positions fitting for you more easily. We also update the requirements profiles, questionnaires and interview questions for all of the volunteer positions, in order to make our work during the fall easier. We in The Nomination Committee are also responsible for the by-elections during the year.

In The Nomination Committee you will get a great insight in the Guild and its many committees. By being a part of this committee and holding countless interviews you will learn what an interviewer is looking for and you will become a more skilled interviewee yourself!

Head of the Nomination Committee

As the Head of the Nomination Committee I’m leading the Guild’s second biggest committee.. It is also my responsibility to take care of the communication with the rest of the Guild and to make sure that it’s easily accessible for everyone. This includes information about which volunteer positions that are free at that time or when the deadline is to apply in order to be able to be nominated. As the head of a committee I am also responsible for the committee’s budget and to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I am also a part of the Committee Council.

The work as Head of the Nomination Committee can be time consuming sometimes, but it is also very educational. Since there are many committees and volunteer positions to write requirement profiles, questionnaires and interview questions for, it is important to be able to delegate. If you don’t know you will learn. As for most of the positions at the Guild, no previous knowledge is required.

Member of the Nomination Committee

We, the members of the Nomination Committee, make sure that everyone at the Guild has a fair chance in applying for the positions they are interested in. This is why we write questionnaires for all volunteer positions at the Guild. We also write interview questions for the positions with important responsibilities such as financial and alcohol responsibility and confidentiality. This would include the Board, the Auditors, the Committee Heads, the Committee Vice Heads, the Introduction Committee, The Pub, the Bartender, the Equality Officers and the Student Safety Representatives. By writing requirement profiles for all the positions we in the Nomination Committee create a basis for our assessment of the applicants which helps us keep as unbiased as possible. We work under secrecy, which means that we cannot answer any questions regarding the requirement profiles or about the people who’ve applied.

The work as a Member of the Election Committee can be time consuming sometimes, but is also very educational. To be able to work and discuss in a group about how to think and improve questions and approaches to make the process as transparent and fair as possible is one of the best things about the position! No previous experience is required, just a will to do your best and a courage to dare to express your opinion even if no one else agrees! This is important, since diversity is the Nomination Committee's greatest strength.
